This legal training manual is a comprehensive material developed to train professionals on the Law against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Nigeria. It comprises: (i) a section on key information on FGM, review of international, regional, and national contexts as well as an analysis of FGM as a form of violence against women; (ii) a section on existing international and regional legal framework on FGM; (iii) a section on the national legal framework on FGM; (iv) and a section on existing national and international case law. Throughout these sections, audience-engaging exercises and debates are suggested. This legal training manual aims to provide a complete and up-to-date knowledge of the legal framework surrounding FGM in Nigeria in order to improve law enforcement and help professionals to best exercise their work and protect citizens from this crime.
