The Institute of Legal and Philosophical Sciences of the Sorbonne (ISJPS - Institut des Sciences Juridique et Philosophique de la Sorbonne) is a joint research unit of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one of the leading Institute's research areas. Currently, the ISJPS research aims to identify and analyze the contributions of the stakeholder approach to renew the understandings of different rules and norms related to broad mechanisms of social responsibility of organizations (SRO).
The aim is to rethink the balance of responsibilities between States, companies and various types of organizations triggered by economic globalization. To fully apprehend the implementation process of CSR principles, especially related to vigilance, identification, anticipation, and prevention of risks, it is essential to appreciate the intersection of law, power, and dialogue among stakeholders.
A key purpose of this research program is to identify in which extent CSR reflects an immanent logic of collective action. One of the research projects attached to this program is designed to understand how the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is associating its discourse and ideas on public finance with gender issues.
Based on case studies, the aim is to understand why and in which conditions an international financial organization is building its social responsibility towards gender equality.
